 Prototype |
|
This is the first prototype for a non-virtual keyboard extension for the GTA04 (here it is connected to a Beagle Hybrid). It is based on a PCB, a TCA8418 keyboard controller and mechanical buttons. It is planned to put it into a modified battery cover for the GTA04 case that provides the key caps and holds the PCB. A flexible cable is to connect it to the GTA04 body.
A video on YouTube shows the prototype and how it is thought: Video 1.
A comparison of different keyboards and this one is also available: Video 2.
The case has still to be designed and it is planned to make it through 3D printing. The idea is to print the letters by small dimples so that QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, and even Braille appear feasible.
If you are interested that we offer such a keyboard as an optional extension for a future GTA04 device, please add yourself to the wishlist. Kickstart donations are welcome.
